Baby David at 2 Months

Our Baby David is growing so much! He turned 2 months on August 3rd. He is so much fun to be around. Andrew is officially in love with him. He can't get any work done when David smiles and gurgles at him. Most of the time he is very content. He loves his swing and bouncy seat. It is fun to watch as he discovers new things, like his own hands and feet. Sometimes he stares at them for a long time. During tummy time he is more intersted in chewing on his hand than anything else. David adores his little elephant. It has crinkly ears and rattle hands and is very colorful (thanks Don and Nancy Howe). I enjoy seeing him play with it and discover all the things it can do.

Last Monday he had his 2 month appointment. He is growing and gaining weight. He weighs 12 pounds 12 oz. and is 24 in long. Unfortunately he still has a stuffy nose, had it for about 3 weeks, and has been a bit fussy. After his shots he got a little worse so we went back to the doctors. He has a slight ear infection and could possibly be teething early. Oh the joys of parenthood.

Our trip to New York

After a week of working hard around our place in Hanover, we were all ready for some adventure. We drove down to New York. I still can't get over the fact that you can travel through several states in a matter of hours. David has been to so many states now - Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey - all in just one trip.
On this trip we were able to see many of the places we have seen on TV and in the movies, Times Square, Rockerfeller Center, Central Park, etc. The weather was very hot, it's amazing how the tall buildings seem to trap in all the heat. We had so much fun getting to know the city, braving the public transportation, and of course eating NY style pizza, hot dogs and much more. On the last evening we even caught a Yankees game. We look forward to visiting New York again. Posted by Picasa

The Valenzuelas in New Hampshire

It was so great for Baby David to have some of his Tios and Tias here to help him settle in the East Coast (late July). My brother Anthony, my sister-in-law Awnie, my brother Daniel and his girlfriend Michelle (all photographed in the last posting at Molly's), spent some time unpacking and hanging out with David. They even built him his swing. We were quite the bunch of Latinos roaming the streets of Hanover. He misses them almost as much as I miss them.

Moving to New Hampshire

We did it! We moved across the country with a 1 month old baby and a house rabbit. It wasn't easy, but with help from our families we made it. David was an angel on the plane, he slept pretty much the whole time. Andrew and I were exhausted as we flew an all night flight, then we drove from Boston to Hanover, New Hampshire. The town is much smaller then expected. Dartmouth College is beautiful (Andrew is doing a post doc here), I'll take some pics soon and post more. It was really difficult to find our place, as street names are hard to read or not even labeled. But eventaully we found our new home, they prefer to use landmarks for directions. A three bedroom little place with a full basement. We were surprised to have all wood floors. We were pretty overwhelmed and wanted to get food, but found no fast food in this town. We drove to the next and found a Wendy's and a few more familiar places. We spent the first two nights on an air mattress on the floor, again Baby David was an angel. My family arrived in my car from their cross country trip and joined us on the floor one more night. The next morning we awoke with the moving truck and they unloaded all of our things.
It felt better to have our familiar items fill the foreign house we are to call our home. The task of unpacking laid before us, but my family helped for a week. They also helped discover cool places to eat and hang out around town. These are pictures of us at Molly's, a fun restaurant with delicious food, great atmosphere, and 2 dollar margaritas.
